Soul Surfer

This is a book about the movie Soul Surfer, obviously but I think that the book is just about the same if not better then the movie. The book is almost 300 pages, but it has a pretty large font, it also has a few pictures. Over all I liked the book, the movie has a lot of very cool shots of them surfing and it is really cool. The book could have done a better job showing some of those parts and visualizing it. This book if you haven't herd about it, it is a story about a girl named Bethany, and she is a big surfer and she is going places, I mean she is really good but one day she is surfing with her friends and a shark comes up and bites her arm off. The story is about her comeback and if and how she surfs.

Navy Seal Dogs, Mike Ritland

This is a very good book, that is nonfiction about the story of the K9s in the army and the navy seals. This book takes you through an adventure of what the tedious work and truanting these dogs have to do, so they can find bombs or enemies. Through the story Mike Ritland (the author) is the one who has to train them int one of the smartest animals on earth. This book is really cool, it is a step out of my normal, i don't normally read nonfiction, but it was really good, it was adventures and cool to see how these amazing dogs are trained. This book is 225 pages so it is on the shorter side, but it is still a very good book, I recommend this book to anybody.

The Hobbit Pt 2

This book is really good, I really liked it,  it was a two week book for me but the first half was more boring and the second half was more adventurous  and fun. i liked how the book picked up and how it wasn't all action packed but it had a good bit in it. This book is about Bilbo getting taken by Gandalf on an adventure to get there treasures, and the main part of the book is there adventure on the way there. I really liked how Tolken made his own world that Bilbo lived in. I recommend this book to anyone, it is really good.

The Hobbit, By J.R Tolkien Week 1

This book is very popular and I bet majority of you guys have read it but, this is my first time reading it, it is a two week book so this will be an overall plot or the beginning and next week will be mainly how I felt on it overall. So, this book so far is pretty good I like it but it is kinda boring there are parts that are exciting and ad an adventure part of it which makes it fun, I assume it will get action pact or what ever but that is later in the book I guess but so far it is good. This book is about Bilbo Baggins, he lives a quaint life, quite, and  nice life, Bilbo is a hobbit (The Hobbit, what a name) and his nice life is interrupted by a wizard named Gandolf, he wants to go on an adventure, an adventure to get their treasure from Smaug. The book is mainly about their adventure to getting there and getting their treasure and there are a lot of stops for action on the way!

Maze Runner, James Dasher

I loved this book, overall it is just what I look for in a book. It is action/ adventure and it also leaves you hanging on a few part, in a mysterious way. Thomas is brought to an unknown place, he has no memory of his past life or anything outside of where he is. All he remembers is his name. He is found with 50 other teenage boys they have created there own world, or community, they call there selfs Gladers. Every week supplies are dropped and every month new teenage boy that comes up in a elevator, they call it the box. A day after Thomas came up in the box a girl came up, this is the first girl ever. Short after she comes she gets a coma. During that time Thomas learns more about the society and he figures out that the Gladers have been searching for a way out of the Maze for two years and each Glader has a job. Soon later everything goes odd for some weird reason.

The Fault in our Stars, John Green

This book is a sad book on a lot of the scenes because the plot is a very thin line for a plot and there is a lot of room to go wrong and I feel like John Green didn't, he put in comic relief in the places that it needed it. The plot line was good overall and it was very creative compared to a lot of other books.  overall I would say anybody should read this book. I really enjoyed it. This story mainly revolves around Hazel a 16 year old that has been diagnosed with cancer. Her parents force her to got to a support camp and when she is there she meets Augustus, he is also a 16 year old. This is the main plot and beginning, if you would like to read it then go get it because I would really really suggest it to anybody.

Catching Fire By Susan Collins SOL 11/31

I bet almost all of you guys out there have read this book, I read The Hunger Games and then the next week we went into book groups so I never got to read Catching Fire. Over all, I really liked this book it is a lot like The Hunger Games, i liked the writing more in hunger games but I really liked how it added a kind of mystery effect and the games were actually harder to figure out. If you haven't read this book it is an fiction action/ adventure book, it is around 350 pages, and I would recommend it to any one, a lot of people have read it and will most likely feel the same way about the book as I do. I would recommend reading the first book, but it isn't necessary.

This book is the second book of the Hunger Games and I can really say a lot about what it is about but it is about Katniss and Peta, both from District 12 in Panem, the time is set in the future and there are 12 Districts, each one has is different. There is a Capitol that hosts each annual hunger games which is a fight to the death between twenty four people from the ages of 13 and up, there are two people from each district and Katniss and Peta are participating in the 75th Hunger games. I can't say anything else without giving up the first book, but I recommend it, it is really good!

Half Brother by Kenneth Oppel / SOL 4/31

This book is well I don't know what the genre is, I liked it, was an out of the box book, not something that I would normally find and decide to read but it was recommend by Max V.S. It is a different book, its not normal but I liked it. This book is around 350 pages and I would recommend it to anyone. It involves a 13 year old hid so it is slightly relatable but the main topic isn't very relatable, but what ever thats away from the point, I liked it read it its good.

This book is about a 13 year old boy and he is a single child and he as you may be able to tell gets a brother, but not a normal brother his new brother is a chimpanzee. You may be wondering, how does he get a chimpanzee, his dad is a scientist and he is having a test to see if his half brother Zan will be able to talk. Ben's parents tell him to treat him as a younger brother, so he does, it is a odd book overall but I liked it as a book that is out of the box.

Chomp By Carl Hiaasen

Carl Hiaasen has always been an author that I really liked, he wrote the books Hoot, Scat, Flush, and those are just the more kid or teenage friendly books. Overall I really like Hiaasen as a writer, he bases majority of his books in Florida and he is a funny writer not all of his books are funny, but he adds funny parts in his serious books so they are not as dull. I this is a good trait in a book in my perspective and makes the boring parts entertaining. this book was a lot like the others, it had funny moments which make it entertaining. It is an adventure book so it has less boring parts but when there are boring parts they are made entertaining. it is a different idea for a book, that is more outside of the box.

This book is about Wahoo and his dad Micky, Micky is a animal wrangler. They were hired to star on a survival show, which is very serious for them, I imagine that it would be like a Bear Grylls show, they reference that show a few times, giving me that reference. Overall this book is like an adventure survival book with a little bit of action, which I really like, I highly recommend it it is a fairly quick read, its funny, pretty much the whole package in my perspective. READ IT NOW.

Book Blog for Number the Stars, Lois Lowery

Number the Stars book cover.jpegThis is a book about Nazi Germany, its a very sad book to read, kind of like all Nazi stories. This book was for my child's classic, not really a child's book but it is very small. Its around 130 pages with pretty small text and i would consider it a very quick read. This book is a historical fiction, written by Lois Lowery, also well known for her really good book which i also recommend The Giver. This book is a sad but good book showing the issues of Nazis and WWII overall. I liked this book as a whole, it is slow at some parts, but it is really interesting, I would recommend it to anyone that likes Jewish Nazi books.

This is a book about a ten year old girl named Annemarie Johansen, and the story is set in, Copenhagen, Denmark during a Nazi occupation it starts off when Annemarie and her best friend Ellen (Ellen is Jewish) are walking home from school and they get stopped by solders, it wasn't much of a big deal and it didn't occupy them for that long but their parents were very worried, because they had herd that the solders were shutting down Jewish stores. This book overall is just about the issues of the Nazis and I don't want to say to much because it could give it away, but i hope you read it it is a good book.

Lengend, Marie Lu

Just to say right now if you like action books this is for you. This book is about June a fifteen year old  agent that works for the government and she is sent on a mission to capture Day. Day is a very, very bad criminal and he is accused of murdering June's older brother, this is the main reason why June is going after him. June is under cover as a poor woman, on her way looking for Day. Through the game book there are some plot switches so be ready for that.
Legend Marie Lu Book cover.jpg
Overall I loved this book. i have been reading a lot of books out of my comfort zone and this book is back into that zone. It is a action book full of well, just a classic action book with chases and fight scenes. I don't know why I love action books. This book just seems like there is always something important happening in each moment. I don't like slow books and this is the opposite of that. I recommend this book to anyone that likes action packed books and parkour and stuff like that. This is a series book, Prodigy is the second.

Fahrenheit 451, Ray Bradbury

I don't have much to say about this book, just besides my opinion on it and how felt about it. Overall, I liked this book, from the beginning I knew what it was about and I had a good understanding of the ending/ what happens overall in the book. I feel like me understanding it kind of ruined it, I feel that way about all books, the ending is the best for every book, and when you know the ending it ruins it, like if you knew the ending of Dante and Aristotle (I hope I spelled that right) because we are going to read it tomorrow. In conclusion, I liked the book overall, and in my opinion i think that it is a good "classic." If you want to know what it is about scroll down to see my last post explaining it.

Fahrenheit 451 By Ray Bradbury

This is a really good book from what i have read so far I'm about 3/4 of the way through the book and I like it a lot, it is about a man named Guy Montag (I have no idea how to pronounce that) and he lives in a distopian world. Bradbury never really sets a place or time, just some time in the future of 1953 (when the book was published). Books are disregarded in this society, and "firemen" burn any that they found. In the beginning Guys wife has an overdose and she loses his memory. He goes to work one day and he and his coworkers are going to a house filled with books, the lady inside refusing to give them up. with out any of his coworkers seeing he slips a book and he is planing to keep it. Afterwards, the woman would not give up her books so she lit a match and set her self on fire. I'm not going to go into to much depth about this but I think that you should read it, it is a really good book so far.

Water for Elephants

This book is 330 ish page book, fairly long for a one week book but its ok because it really interesting and right from the first few pages it drags you in by reveling the fact that the main character Jacob a 23 year old man studding in veterinary schools parents have died in a fatal car accident. This book isn't about the action, it is more of a drama book. This is another genre that is out of the box for me! I liked this book i would give this a 8 out of 10, just because it wasn't my normal I still liked it a lot. I would recommend it to anybody that likes drama.

This book, like i said in the beginning its about a 23 year old man named Jacob and his parents have just died, he has no place to live because they mortgaged their house to pay for his tuition. He has a total breakdown and becomes super stressed. without event thinking he decides to jump on a train and run away, this is just before his graduation. The train was a circus train and the head leader named Uncle Al learns to train him to work for the circus. This book is about his circus experience.

The 5th Wave, By Rick Yancey

This book is around 500 pages and it would be a medium read for a two week book but I read it over break. I really loved this book it was really entertaining and it draws you in really often. even the back description draws you in "After the 1st wave, only darkness remains. After the 2nd, only the lucky escape. And after the 3rd, only the unlucky survive. After the 4th wave, only one rule applies: trust no one." How amazing does that sound it drags you in to see what the 5th wave is like. over all I loved this book i give it a A or a 9 out of 10.

16 year old Cassie Sullivan is trying to survive the alien invasion destroying all civilization except around 1% she has to find her brother and survive on her own there are aliens patrolling everywhere looking for any survivors. Cassie's thought is to stay alone to keep alive.
